Energy Saving Fans

Want to save more on energy costs? The FANCOM I-FAN series of fans is energy-efficient and designed to withstand the rigors of the hog barn environment. The I-FAN is a brushless direct current fan which produces little noise and is easy to control. Using the FANCOM I-FAN in Ventilation Systems can give the farm the benefit of potential energy savings of up to 75%. Even when compared to currently used energy-efficient systems with frequency controls, FANCOM I-FAN delivers respectable energy savings.

  • Reliable

Creating a healthy environment for the animals is one of the more critical needs of today’s pig producers. High standards of reliability are required from climate control equipment and using the correct fan is an important component in the ventilation system. Fancom fans are easy to control, energy efficient and run quietly. Leading the way in energy efficiency is Fancom’s I-FAN™ Fan. This variable-speed fan is available in 18-, 24- and 36-inch (457-, 610- and 914-mm) diameters for wall-mounted fan and pit fan use.

Intelligent

Internal electronics regulate the speed of the I-FAN Fan, so an external TRIAC or frequency controller is not required. Plus, this fan has the ability to run at very low speeds. The motor continually checks the RPM and corrects it automatically while also counteracting wind resistance. The result is a constant airflow throughout the barn and floor slats unhindered by wind influences. The constant airflow also helps provide a stable room temperature range of +/- 3° F.

Energy Efficient

Fancom’s I-FAN Fans combine high airflow capacity with low energy consumption and noise levels. The fans use EC technology which is a brushless direct current motor that is energy efficient and produces considerably less heat. Using I-FAN Fans in a Fancom ventilation system offers energy savings of up to 85% compared with systems using traditional TRIAC-operated fans. The return on investment for the I-FAN Fan quickly covers the fan’s initial cost in just one to two years.

I-FAN Fans feature a permanent magnet motor for greater efficiency and reliability.
This brushless motor works without traditional carbon brushes making it less susceptible to mechanical wear and results in a longer running life.

The I-FAN Fan can be connected easily to the power supply. No shielded cables are required and long cables are not a problem either. The fan is supplied with a connection box and includes eight feet (2.5 m) of cable. This enables a quick electrical connection of the fan without the need to open the motor. The fan is easy to control using 0-10V or a signal sent via an I/O-Net communication from a Fancom controller.

Reliable

The I-FAN Fan line features aluminum motor housings, synthetic fan blades and plastic shutters – all are corrosion-resistant. The fan’s dust- and water-resistant IP66 classification means users are getting a fan designed for a long, reliable life.

The fan’s safety features help ensure a reliable, continuous supply of fresh air in the house:

  • The automatic fail-safe system keeps the fan running at 50% or 100% if the fan does not detect a control signal (I/O or 0-10V).
  • If a motor overloads or overheats, the fan will continue to rotate to move air.
  • If wind slows the fan down, it will automatically correct its RPM.
  • The fan can also be operated manually.
